Growing up, my dad was in the Air Force and we moved quite a bit. I grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and when I was about six or seven we moved to San Antonio, Texas. We were only there for about eighteen months (but we still managed to live in three or four houses...which translates to multiple schools) and that is where my little sister was born! From there we moved on to Hampton, Virginia, where we stayed for a couple years. After my dad left the service, we settled in Raleigh, North Carolina. We have all lived here for since 1996 and it is what I consider home. Now that I am married with my own family, I didn't move very far. :) We live in a small town near to Raleigh.
Since neither my husband nor I moved far from our parents (Nate's parents also live in the area) our girls have great relationships with most of their grandparents. I love having family nearby to help out (which I am beyond grateful and thankful for) and to just spend time with the girls. It means so much to me that I get to see my mom a few times a week and hang out. She is one of the most important people in my life and I love her very much. My mom is a strong and caring woman and she has helped me become the person I am today. After all, who else did I help cook and bake? :) My cake inspiration did come from my dad, though. For years I watched him decorate cakes for other people and I guess some of that rubbed off on me. I did after all make a princess castle cake for Kyleigh's third birthday.
Anyway, there's a good bit about me and I hope you enjoy reading about our everyday adventures!
