Moon Sand!

Okay, so today I decided to make some moon sand for the girls and see what they thought about it. It's really easy to make and feels so soft that it's almost like you aren't touching anything at all. It takes 8 cups of flour and 1 cup of baby oil.

Then mix it up with your hands.

Then have at it!! Since it's moldable like wet sand at the beach, I brought toys out from the girls' play kitchen that they could use to play with the moon sand.

Great Grapes! Wine & Food Festival 2012

As an early birthday present, Nate took me to the Great Grapes! Wine & Food Festival. He's gone with his mom a few times and for whatever reason (pregnant, new baby, nursing, no one to watch the kids, etc) I wasn't ever able to go. But this year, Nate bought tickets and his parents were able to watch the girls so I could go to my first wine festival! Yay!!!

Taking a break from the tasting.

And I'm eating some yummy pickle chips!! LOVE these!!!

The music stage.

The vendors.

Our last wine tent before getting picked up. It was raining but it didn't matter. :)

I had a great time with my wonderful husband!!

Picnic at the airport with Nate

My girls started the day by being silly and giving themselves sticker beards. haha

Then, since Kyleigh is tracked out, we decided to go have a picnic with Nate at an observation park at the airport.
Nate was more than happy to be whisked away for a bit as his week at work was an especially long and tough one.

On the "runway" pretending they are airplanes.

The girls were excited to watch for planes.

"I'm a plane!"

"Vroom!" is the sound the Abby plane makes. :)

It's a plane!

The Daddy-plane is chasing the Abby-plane and the Kyleigh-plane.

The Daddy-plane got the Kyleigh-plane!

Another plane!

After the picnic, we headed home and we painted our nails. :)

Little Abby's left hand -- blue with pink sparkle polka dots.

Little Abby's right hand -- pink with purple polka dots.
After painting Abby's fingers, it was Kyleigh's turn. For Kyleigh's left hand, she wanted green with pink polka dots.
After we painted her left hand, we noticed that Abby had fallen asleep while we were watching the movie. Poor kid was all tuckered out.
Then we painted Kyleigh's right hand yellow with pink sparkle polka dots.
Then it was my turn! Red with yellow polka dots!!

After nails were dry, it was time to get started on dinner for pizza and a movie night. :)

Softball Games & Terrariums

**Yawn** I still feel tired this morning. haha The girls and I had a full day yesterday, and today is going to be full too.

Yesterday was Kyleigh's first day of track-out. We had a couple grocery stores we had to go to after breakfast. Then we headed back home for a quick bite to eat and a short nap. While Abby was sleeping, I started getting snacks and toys ready to go to Megan's double-header. These are the last 2 softball games at home, so we wanted to be sure we made them. So we got Abby up, got everybody ready to go, then got everything loaded into the car with my mom's help, then headed out. My mom couldn't stay for the entire second game, so we left when she did because Kyleigh had a garden club event to go to at 5:30.

So we got home, had a fruit & chocolate plate then got cleaned up and headed out. Silly me went to the wrong place! (I don't know why, but I had been thinking it was at a garden store on the way to Nate's work, but it was at The Garden Supply Store that is near Nate's parents' house.) So of course I rushed us to the right place and of course we were a little late. But we got there in enough time for Kyleigh to catch the end of the directions and build her terrarium. :) Yay! Then after the directions, the kids were let loose and it was a little crazy in the small-ish space with lots of large tables and kids from the garden club and parents of the kids all trying to get to the rocks and dirt and materials.

A nook for reading and reading in the Nook

I love having crafty ideas that involve repurposing things. That's just the way I am. :)

So I was super excited to find a pin on Pinterest where the lady repurposed a crib and turned it into a desk for her kids. (I suggest checking out her blog to see the pictures because it looks pretty cool.) And then later I found no shortage of pins where people turned their kids' closets into reading nooks. (Seriously, get on Pinterest and type in 'reading closet' in the search box.) I thought, that too, is a great idea! I had a useless crib and a closet in the playroom that wasn't being used for clothes....well then the wheels in my head starting turning.

Feeding the ducks!

A mama and her ducklings

To take advantage of the gorgeous weather we are having, Abby, my Mom and I decided to go to the park near my Mom's house. What we like about this lake is the bridge that stretches over part of the water that is a popular duck-feeding spot. And Abby had her heart set on feeding those duckies. :)

Abby found a caterpillar on the way down to the trail.

Just a Walk in the Park

After having our coffee this morning, Abby and I decided to head to the park. We were there for awhile and had a lot of fun together. We might go back tomorrow. :)

She's stuck in a cage! Oh no! haha

Swinging on the big kid swings with Dora watching.

Easter 2012 -- Part2 Egg Hunts

The Easter Bunny came!!
Kyleigh's basket

Most of Abby's basket

Already playing with Fairy Princess Dora.
At some point in the night after the Easter bunny came, Abby pulled her Dora Look & Find book (you can see it on the couch behind Nate) out from behind her basket and started looking through it. :) Funny girl.

Kyleigh jumping with excitement. :)

Easter 2012 -- Part1 Coloring Eggs

This year, Nate and I thought ahead. We boiled the eggs Friday night to color them Saturday. Most years we have to wait on coloring eggs on Saturday because we need to boil the eggs and then let them cool first....it's a little frustrating for the kids. :)

So this year, while the girls were down for 'quiet time', Nate and I got set up to color the eggs.

The girls were super excited to begin.....can you tell? ;)

Nate was happy too. :)
So with everything all set up, we were ready to get coloring!
